As the menstrual cycle and lack of product remain a challenge that hinders the girl child from fully experiencing and enjoying education, Purple Dot International’s unwavering commitment to sustainable community development is the drive behind the support of community empowering initiatives that aim to provide vital resources and essential knowledge.

Counting it a success, the day was marked by the active participation of approximately 3,000 children from the community. A cornerstone of this collaborative effort was Purple Dot’s generous donation of 1,000 packs of high-quality sanitary pads, which addressed the issue of period poverty and ensured that girls could manage their menstruation with confidence and attend school without interruption.

In addition to providing essential resources, the CSR initiative included comprehensive educational sessions. Trained health professionals and community leaders facilitated discussions with female and male students. Female students received in-depth education on menstrual health and proper hygiene practices, empowering them with essential knowledge for lifelong well-being. While receiving dignity kits, male students were also engaged in discussions aimed at understanding menstruation, fostering empathy, and learning how to avoid stigmatizing their female peers actively. This inclusive approach, led by Beacon of Heart, is to cultivate a generation that champions respect and support for all.

Joining in to support the CSR initiative, Ms. Pauline Korir, the County Chief Officer for Gender in Bomet County, delivered an inspiring message that emphasized the importance of gender equality. Her presence, along with a representative from the Governor’s Office, showcased the strong commitment of local leadership to these collaborative efforts, making the event all the more significant. “This initiative, organized by Beacon of Heart and supported by Purple Dot, Red Cross and other partners is truly impactful. It’s not just about providing pads; it’s about giving dignity and ensuring that our girls stay in school. The inclusion of boys in these discussions is vital for creating a truly supportive community,” remarked Ms Pauline Korir during her address.
